Sustainability

For the last six years Cyberian Frontier's Engineering and Support offices have been entirely powered by the sun. That's right, we're "off the grid". Our office's power needs are easily met with our modest solar power system consisting of six solar panels -- bringing in a total of 750 watts of power in full, direct sunlight. By making minor changes in the ways we use electricity we are able to fully power our office with less power than three 100 watt incandescent light bulbs consume while lit.

We're using laptops in place of full-sized computer towers, LCD monitors in place of traditional CRT displays, and we use inkjet printers in place of the more power-hungry laser printers. We've replaced all of our incandescent lighting with LED or compact fluorescent lighting and we do our research and choose the most power efficient options for all our other office equipment needs. And best of all -- it hasn't cost us a lot of money and, more importantly, it hasn't had a negative impact upon our business or our ability to service our clients.

Green Hosting

Our latest hosting products are also "green powered". More than half of our hosting operations are now powered by wind energy and as we move forward we'll be working to secure providers that have made genuine commitments to being as environmentally responsible as possible. To be fair and honest it should be noted that some of our hosting operations are still entirely powered by traditional, commercial power sources. Over the next few years we will work to move as much of our hosting infrastructure over to green powered solutions as is possible.

We believe that an important aspect of every long-term business venture is reaching a point of sustainability. With today's concerns over global warming, rising energy prices, and our national dependence upon foreign energy sources we here at Cyberian Frontier have decided that seeking energy independence and sustainability is the best course of action to secure our financial future and remain a stable, dependable partner to our clients.
